Located seven blocks from the Venice Beach boardwalk,  this 1940s beach bungalow is reminiscent of the old Venice and is intermixed with a combination of low- and high-rise multifamily construction.  A concept was developed for a second floor addition that consists of new bedroom suites and art studio space distributed throughout multiple small ‘huts.’ These huts are independent and private from each other but interconnected by a shared, light-filled core. A surrounding screen element further serves as a cohesive element binding the huts, while providing privacy from the street and alleyways that border the property on three sides.
